ŠTĚSTÍ A DOBRO VŠEM (HAPPINESS TO ALL)
CZ/NL/FR | 2024 | 96 min
Vitaly was a nuclear physicist and formerly belonged to the Soviet elite. Now he works as a construction worker in Novosibirsk. His parents, formerly elite scientists, live in poverty. Capitalism brought hardship, drugs and loss of dignity to all of them. Their answer to this is a longing for the former Soviet Union. In their opinion, the old conditions would eliminate all injustices for them. That's why they are hopeful for Putin. Vitaly's fate shows why entire societies elect autocrats - a cycle that often ends in war and suffering.
Supporting film: I DIED IN IRPIN
CZ | 2024 | 11 min
"On February 24, 2022, my friend and I fled from Kiev to Irpin. We spent 10 days in the blockaded city and managed to escape with the last evacuation convoy. [...] The feeling that I died in Irpin has not left me since then."
