Nothing but the voice of my heart - The women of 17.5 years Feest der Poezie
Literary and musical stage collective Feest der Poezie has existed for 17.5 years and celebrates this with an ode to the female poets, singers and composers of the past and present who have appeared in their programs in recent years. Female poets such as Mieke van Zonneveld, who contributed to our handmade poetry periodical Avantgaerde, read from their own work. No fewer than three classical singers perform work by, among others, Henriette Roland Holst and Hélène Swarth ('the singing heart' of Dutch poetry), composed by Henriette van Lennep, Henriette Bosmans and Catharina van Rennes, among others. They are accompanied by regular pianist Daan van de Velde. The presentation is in the hands of artistic director Simon Mulder. Enjoy these 'immortal stars' (as Swarth wrote) from the past, who around 1900 were at the forefront of modern development within the art of expressing 'nothing but the voice of my heart', and female poets and singers of today who continue the classical tradition.
