About event
Nitra and Bratislava – two cities, one story
Commented history tour
Nitra is the oldest Slovak city, thanks to which it has a rich history. Bratislava was among the most important royal cities. Both cities were proud of their coat of arms, privileges and wealth.
But both cities were not spared difficult times - wars, uprisings or epidemics. And just as Hungary carried its fate, so did these two cities.
On our tour we will reveal the differences that accompanied our history, but above all we will discover what connected Nitra and Bratislava and still connects them today.
We will remember:
• the creation of cities and privileges
• the fortification system
• the influence of the church
• plague events and dark periods epidemics
• the power of the judiciary
Both cities were the support of monarchs, centers of trade, culture and power - and still bear traces of their magnificent past.
Length of the tour: approx. 60 minutes
When: Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 15:00 to approx. Cyril and Methodius on Jána Pavla II Square. in Nitra
