About event

The year 2024 is a special year for the NITS. The NIT50 anniversary tour takes the band to the European cities that have played a big role in their career. Paris, Zurich, Antwerp, Brussels, Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Helsinki and of course Amsterdam. The concert will be a journey through their history, but also an introduction to new songs. The mini-album Tree House Fire was released before the tour. The central theme of the six new songs is the fire that completely destroyed the band's Amsterdam studio in 2022. Eric Facon's 30-part podcast Dial Nits also started at the beginning of 2024 and an extensive photo book has also been published. Iceberg is a collection of stills from the
videos and Super 8 films that Henk Hofstede shot between 1980 and 1996.

One of the most creative pop bands in Europe
In recent times For five decades, the NITS have created a unique sound and made an important contribution to European pop culture. The band around singer and lyricist Henk Hofstede, drummer/percussionist Rob Kloet and keyboardist Robert Jan Stips has released more than 30 albums since they were founded in 1974. An important part of their story is based on the songs that everyone knows: In The Dutch Mountains, J.O.S. Days, goodbye sweet train station and Nescio. But it is precisely their constant development that makes NITS one of the most creative and innovative pop bands in Europe. Each album tells a new story, such as Ting (1992) or Les Nuits (2005) or the more recent “triptych” angst (2017), Knot (2019) and NEON (2022). In January 2024, Tree House Fire was added to this list as a mini-album. The following can be read on the cover: “On May 16, 2022, our studio De Werf burned to the ground. The fire took everything away. The fire gave us this album. The tree is still standing. The bird is still singing."
