There are sounds that cling to History, as if refusing to be extinguished. This is the case with Carlos Paredes’ melodies and ripped chords. More than two decades have passed since their disappearance and they insist on exploring new meanings in these new times. In the year in which we mark the centenary of the birth of this extraordinary musician, Metropolitana transfigures the timbre of the guitar into a symphonic register, bringing to the stage at Teatro São Luiz some of the songs he himself played there in 1992, such as Canto do Amanhecer, Verde Anos and Dança Palatial. The program is completed with impressions of the streets of Lisbon in readings by Frederico de Freitas and Saint-Saëns, a tribute to Haydn signed by Brahms and the spectacular Moto Perpetuo by Paganini, in dialogue with the Movimento Perpétuo de Parede.
