Nordbahnviertel: Bahnhof, Biotop, Brücken statt Barrieren

From the station area to the residential area-10,000 apartments and a wild biotope shape Vienna's new quarters.

The Nordbahnhof was the first and largest train station in the Habsburg Empire. The retirement functions followed the plan to build an innovative district with 10,000 apartments - since 1990 it has been built here in several phases. The 2014 decision to make the biotope that has been created over the decades set a strong accent for the last development phase. Based on the history of the place, some of the most interesting projects are presented and the ideas are discussed behind it.
