🟩 November Talks 2024: Guido Brandi (ZHAW) – Reuse in Construction

🟩 Guido Brandi is an architect and co-founder of the NUAR studio based in Zurich. Since 2018, he has also been involved in the activities of the ZHAW Institute of Constructive Design as a research assistant. In his work, he focuses on solving complex structural, logistical and economic problems associated with the reuse of building materials. His lecture will focus primarily on circular construction research, presented on the example of the analysis of the K118 building in Winterthur, Switzerland.

🟩 The lecture will focus primarily on circular construction research, which is ongoing at ZHAW University in Zurich, and on the wider development of this field in Switzerland. The key emphasis is on the analysis of building K118, built by Baubüro in situ, and on working with students on the reuse of building elements. This includes research into the reuse of structural elements such as concrete, steel profiles and windows. In addition, a project by NUAR Architektur, which is currently being planned and involves the reuse of abandoned ski lift columns for the main structure of a school in Zuoz, Switzerland, will be presented.
