Drama Queer presents Kora. Boska
After death, Kora stands before the gates of heaven, where the Three Virgins are waiting for her. Very decorated. As painted: Our Lady of Czestochowa, Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Standing before the grotesque Last Judgment, Kora returns to earthly memories in her songs and confessions. Finally, she has the opportunity to tell her life to those who could make it better...
The production is a story about a woman, an artist, a daughter and a mother, about Poland, religion, the system and illness; it is a fairytale story about love, longing, helplessness and regret.
The three Virgin Marys symbolize three different attitudes and three different areas of life. Three virtues of God. Mother of God of Czestochowa is Faith – church, Poland, politics, system. Our Lady of Fatima is Hope - naivety, purity, child and desire. Our Lady of Guadalupe is Love – true free love, music, madness and Indian trance…
Script and direction: Katarzyna Chlebny
Scenography and costumes: Łukasz Błażejewski
Arrangements: Paweł Harańczyk
Movement on stage: Karol Miękina
Corrections and make-up: Artur Świetny
Maanam's biggest hits performed by Katarzyna Chlebna will be heard in the production.
Kora. Božská is a crazy production that breaks many conventions and, above all, plays with the Christian idea of the Last Judgment in a cheeky way. This vision, combined with Maanamu's songs, creates a truly explosive mix.
"It is not only a production about Kora, it is also a story about women, faith, hope and love. It contains many humorous moments. It is a project that on the one hand reminds the great singer and brings her life closer, on the other hand shows the human face of the deity - close to us, to people."
Warning: During the production, stroboscopic light and intense smoke in the hall are used.
Length of the production: 100 minutes
