About event

A lyrical-musical encounter with the philosophical thinker Hannah Arendt on the 50th anniversary of her death. With Heidemarie Wiesner (piano), Waltraut Elvers (violin, viola) and Peter Oliver Loew (recitation).
Hannah Arendt's early and late poems tell of closeness and strangeness, of loss, memory and the need for connection. Although they were never intended for publication, they show a personal, very human side of the philosophical thinker.
With readings and music, the artists put Arendt's poetry into a lively dialogue: stages of her life resonate with the poetic word. With music by Rebecca Clarke, Lilly Boulanger, Maria Herz (among others) and with improvisations, the musicians take up motifs and elements of poetry, create transitions and in this way open up new areas of association for the audience.
The result is a finely woven, intensive interplay of language and sound, which invites the audience to encounter Hannah Arendt in an unusual way and to sense the depth of what she means by the expression “poetic “Thinking” understood.
