About event
At the end of June, we are preparing an evening dedicated to the graphic novel, which will bring inspiration to lovers of literature and fine art. The reading room will be visited by Jan H. Hoffstädter, the founder of the publishing house E. J. Publishing, and together with the artist David Marcin, they will bring the comics behind the scenes and present the story of a small Bratislava publishing house with a passion for beautiful books.
E. Since 2018, J. Publishing has focused on literature for children and youth, but also on adult fiction. They bring books that are not only of quality, but also visually attractive. Among their publications you will also find several comics, which are their heart affair. Illustrator David Marcin collaborated on the work of two of them called Pé er dé and I learned that you live. Currently, the third book entitled Come is created.
David Marcin (*1991) is a comic book artist, illustrator and teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and today he creates mostly digital, but at the beginning of each project "has a pencil in his hand". The main part of David's work is comics - he has participated in several book projects and has also created a series of short comics for a children's magazine. He is a co -founder of Pomimo, which regularly publishes comic book anthology. It organizes comic book workshops, lectures and artistic courses and also works as a teacher at the Joseph Vydra Secondary Art School in Bratislava. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava 2023 (BIB) and is also a co -organizer of the comic book conference and festival Panel. He lives in Bratislava with his bitch Linda.
