O odhaľovaní jednej záhady Etruskov: nové nálezy v etruskej Velzne, dnešnom Orviete (Taliansko)

The Etruscans settled in the 1st millennium BC. a significant part of the Apennine Peninsula. Where they resided everywhere, what we know about the Etruscan city states and burial grounds, what they were related to life and what death and what material culture was characteristic of them, we will talk in the first part of the lecture. The second part of the paper tells the story of a recent archaeological research that took place in the Italian city of Orvieto, which today belongs to the Umbria region and which was very likely in antiquity an important Etruscan religious center. The city flourished the most in the 6th and 5th centuries BC, in the so -called. archaic and classical periods. In this story, we will go together to underground orvieta, where there are more than a thousand different hollow spaces, which were usually created by the Etruscans.

The discovery of one of these areas called Cavin 254 (La Cavità 254), caused a sensation that was also written in our country. For what purpose this space was created, why it was covered and what appeared here, you will soon find out at the lecture of specialists for the study of Etruskov and Etruscan culture and spiritual life, Mgr. Marína Zubajová from the Institute of Archaeology and the Museology of the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk University Brno.
