Restrictions for the use of chemical substances under the REACH regulation - *Webinar*
Main topics
The webinar provides basic information about the restrictive measures (restrictions) for chemical substances under the REACH regulation.
Provisions The REACH Restrictions Regulations allow the introduction of a total or partial ban or other restrictions on the production, placing on the market and use of substances presenting a risk to human health and the environment that needs to be addressed, based on an assessment of these risk.
According to the Regulation (Title VIII, Art. 67) a substance as such, a substance in a preparation/mixture or in a product, for which a restriction is specified in Annex XVII, may not be manufactured, placed on the market or used unless it meets conditions of the given restriction. This does not apply to the manufacture, placing on the market or use of the substance in scientific research and development.
Annex XVII is regularly revised.
Restrictions are a tool to protect human health and the environment from unacceptable risks posed by chemicals. Restrictions are normally used to restrict or prohibit the manufacture, placing on the market (including import) or use of a substance, but may impose any relevant condition, such as requiring technical measures or specific markings.
Restrictions may apply to any substance on its own, in a mixture or in an article, including those that do not require registration, for example substances manufactured or imported in quantities of one tonne per year or certain polymers.
To whom it is webinar intended
for workers responsible for the management of chemical substances, products, manufacturers, importers, downstream users...
