About event
Calliope Talks is a new discussion series that connects important female figures from Austria and the Czech Republic and opens an Austrian-Czech dialogue on current social issues – from the role of women in the public space to changes in culture and art to questions of the future in the age of technological development.
The discussion series creates a space for the exchange of experiences, inspiration and critical reflection and connects women's voices that actively shape society, culture, media and public debate. Calliope Talks supports interdisciplinary meetings and brings new perspectives on contemporary social issues.
The opening topic of the debate series is:
Images of women / images of men: How to achieve cultural change in the age of digitization and artificial intelligence?
The discussion will focus on the question of how new technologies, artificial intelligence and the digital environment transform our ideas about identity, gender, interpersonal relationships and the form of public space. What images of women and men are created today? And what stories and values will shape the society of the future?
They will discuss:
• Beate Winkler – artist, former director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and personality who has been connecting the field of human rights, politics and art for many years. In her artistic and public activities, she focuses on issues of democracy, solidarity and social responsibility.
• Veronika Šprincová – Czech columnist and expert on gender issues, who in her work focuses on the position of women in society, the media and current forms of feminism.
The discussion is moderated by journalist and presenter Linda Bartošová.
