About event
Oddychovka is a nationwide wind music competition and showcase that takes place in Slovakia and is one of the top brass music events in the country. The event was created by merging two traditional competitions — Lednické Rovne and FestMlaDych from 2021 (until 2023 under the name OdDYCHpoDYCH). Since its inception, it has created the possibility of confronting the creative approaches of wind ensembles and at the same time developing contacts between fans of wind music.
The announcer and main financial partner is the National Awareness Center on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, and the National Awareness Center and the Wind Music Association of Slovakia are the professional guarantors. In 2026, the 28th year of the national brass music competition and parade will take place. The regional round of the competition for the Bratislava self-governing region is organized by the Malokarpatské osvetové center in Modra. Its importance lies primarily in:
- to enable individual collectives to perform in front of experts and the general public
- to create a space for wind ensembles where they learn to perceive the beauty of music through their playing, to cultivate and preserve melodiousness (or melody)
- to create a space for teachers of elementary art schools and band leaders to fulfill their own pedagogical and educational goals
- raise and professionally guide this area of artistic activity of interest, which requires systematic work with musically talented performers in individual regions of Slovakia
The competition provides and creates a space for confrontation and methodical assistance for collectives, their choirmasters, bandleaders and at the same time provides for the development of contacts between fans of wind music.
In the 28th year, wind ensembles can participate in the following competition categories:
- Children's brass bands with an average age of up to 17 years (the maximum age of an individual is 20 years)
- Large brass orchestras without age restrictions
- Small brass bands without age restrictions
Oddychovka 2026 represents a significant opportunity for the presentation of systematic pedagogical work with the collective and individuals in the field of brass music, for artistic growth and further development of brass bands in Bratislava regions.
Event date: April 26, 2026
Entrance fee for the event: €5
