About event
Amsterdam has been in existence for 750 years.
That requires an ode to the jubilating city!
That ask for Ode from Mokum, a special edition of the elderly Songfestival with exclusively Amsterdam repertoire.
Anyone who is 55 years or older can participate as a soloist, duo or trio. The repertoire choice is free, the participant determines, as long as the song is about Amsterdam.
All participants are accompanied in one of the four preliminaries by the Ode to Amsterdam Kwintet led by pianist and arranger Kees van Zantwijk. During the Grande Final, the finalists are accompanied by his ten -person Ode to Amsterdam Orchestra.
A skilled jury under the chairmanship of Ben Lansink determines who will go to the final.
During the Grande Final on 22 June in the Amsterdam Theater Amsterdam, the public and internet prize will be presented in addition to three professional jury prizes. The Audience Award bears the name Eberhard van der Laan, former agency of Amsterdam and one of the greatest fans of the Amsterdam Repertoire.
