About event

Are you interested in how cohesion contributes to the creation of a healthy and prosperous society; where have we moved in the perception of solidarity with the needy in 35 years; and what impact do development projects or humanitarian initiatives of our civic organizations have on providing assistance to vulnerable groups in Slovakia?

Come on Thursday (November 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) to the Czech Center at Prepoštská 6 in Bratislava for a live discussion from the workshop of the Ambrela platform, CEEV Živica and the Sokrat Institute as part of #TGV2024 and with the support of the Slovak Republic through SlovakAid. The discussion will be devoted to the current topic 'The message of November 17, which also goes beyond borders: cohesion and mistrust'. You will also learn how development and volunteer activities can change stereotypes about aid, contribute to the development of empathy, strengthen community cohesion and social responsibility among Slovaks, as well as inspire people to actively engage in helping others.

The questions of the moderator, Veronika Fishbone Vlčkova (director of the Milan Šimečka Foundation), will be answered by panelists who are close to the topic of solidarity and helping the needy, namely:
- Zuzana Fialová (sociologist, Climate Coalition),
- Marián Cehelník (humanitarian worker, Human in danger),
- Matúš Bakyta (psychologist, Refreshed).

The discussion is part of Global Education Week (TGV). , which Umbrella and its members implement in the Slovak Republic in mid-November. It will also be broadcast Live via Facebook and YouTube channels: platforms of Umbrella, CEEV Živica and other partners. You can actively participate in the discussion by asking questions via the slide application using the code: #TGV2024.

The executive secretary of the Umbrella platform, Daniel Kaba, also invites you to this event: "What does the approach that we first solve our own problems say about us? and then the international ones? The discussants will look for a balance between focusing on domestic successes and the need to respond to global challenges. Together, we will examine the state of solidarity in Slovakia and its impact on society - on November 14.
