We invite you to the afternoon with chemistry with Mgr. Lukáš Faltinka, Ph.D. From the Institute of Biochemistry, the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University on Lectina: the key to molecular communication of cells
proteins or proteins are not only a component of the diet, but fulfills a number of vital functions. This lecture will focus on lectins - not well known to the public, but very interesting proteins. Lectins are able to recognize and bind carbohydrates on the cell surface, which is made in many processes including immune reactions, cellular communication or some pathogenic mechanisms. The lecture will bring the importance of lectins in nature and their practical applications. For example, we will explain not only what human blood groups differ, but we will also reveal the principles of other important biochemical processes.
