About event

The Department of Archeology of the General Directorate of the National Institute of Monuments, together with colleagues from the regional specialist offices of the NPÚ in Ostrava and Brno, invites you as part of the International Day of Archeology to an afternoon of monument archeology dedicated to the theme: PROTECTION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND THE LANDSCAPE THROUGH THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENT RESERVATION (APR).

The issue of the so-called general protection of the archeological landscape belongs, even with regard to the emphasized needs of the development of contemporary society, among the topics that are quite often perceived quite differently by the parties involved. The starting points, expectations and concrete practice are different. That's why we decided to pay more attention to the Institute of Archaeological Monument Reserve. This type of reservation, although it is not announced often, is one of the tools of area protection. The aim of the meeting is to get a closer look at the legal context, the current practice of already announced campuses and possible other candidates. We are convinced that localities such as the defunct Karviná, the supra-regional power center Vladař, the defunct mining town of Litrbachy and others are extremely interesting and important, and in the case of their protection, we must be active.

📍The afternoon will take place on October 24 2024 in the lecture room of the NPÚ General Directorate building at Liliová 219/5, Prague 1.

Program:
