About event
What connects us to our ancestors? How far does our past go? Perhaps each of us asks such questions in our "spiritual" time.
The inspiration for the search for answers will be the works of the famous European composer Christóbal Morales (1500 – 1553), who set traditional sung prayers for the dead to music for his king, Charles V, and which have become part of the European canon of classical music.
Officium defunctorum - the service for the dead - has accompanied our lives for centuries and many remember it from childhood. we remember in a modernized (post-Council) form. Although today many of us no longer feel the need to attend religious services, they can be the space that we miss so much. A space where we can for a moment leave worldly worries, touch eternity and briefly remember those who have long gone before us.
We will present the works in the beautiful Gothic Chapel of St. John the Evangelist, which is part of the oldest church in the territory of today's center of Bratislava and which belongs to the group of so-called beautiful 14th century chapels built in the classical phase of the French cathedral style.
