Faintly glowing embers in the fireplace, candles that are already burning out, and two men who don't have much left to live. Nevertheless, they persistently, excitingly and with polished elegance search for its meaning. If there is any... Martin Huba and Jiří Dvořák will perform in a play by British playwright Christopher Hampton based on Sándor Márai's novella. The chamber story about friendship, old age and love belongs to the top works of world literature of the 20th century. It even caught the attention of Miloš Forman, who considered its film adaptation. The current treatment allows the audience to find themselves in close proximity to the main characters and experience with them their drama of ancient betrayal, deep feeling and passion.
The producers of the original London release were Eric Abraham and Robert Haggiag.
* Artificial gunfire is used in the production, candles are lit in the fireplace, and to highlight the director's intention, actors they are smoking cigarettes on the stage.
* We inform the audience that if they arrive late after the start of the performance, they will not be allowed into the hall, see Visitor's Regulations.
