Summer 1989 in East Berlin. A country is falling apart: more and more people are fleeing to the West, the mood is getting worse, the protests are getting louder. Meanwhile, Mina, Leo, Toni and Johannes are doing a program on a youth station. They are asked to act as if everything is as usual. But how is that supposed to work? There is also resistance within the station. Mina argues with everyone, Toni hesitates but ultimately supports a resolution, Leo is arrested, only Johannes keeps quiet. – And then the unthinkable happens: the wall falls and from one day to the next everything is different. A station that was just ON AIR is now ON FIRE.
This is the story of young people at a radio station that changes in the turmoil of time and takes its fate into its own hands. And it is the story of young people in times of existential social upheaval.
Based on the history of the GDR youth station DT64, Marion Brasch, herself a presenter at the station at the time, uses fictional characters to tell the story of real events and how a radio station became a way of life for young people.
