Anton Bruckner Symphony No. 4 Es-Dur WAB 104 "Romantic" (version 1878/80)
"" Mahler must His! ”That was absolutely clear to Jakub Hrůša when our journey together in 2016 began - since its late romantic music is both him and us" genetically very close ". We have already listed five of his symphonies in recent years. In this program there is the magical "Blumine" sentence that Mahler erased from his autobiographical first symphony and himself described it as "blissful enthusiasm": he wrote it in 1884 as a young chapel master when he had fallen into a soprano. However, the affection was not replied - and a year later, the "songs of a moving journeyman" sprang up from the emotional emergency. Together with Konstantin Krimmel, we embark on the restless hiking of the love -sick artist. After that it says: Not only Mahler has to be. For some time now, Jakub Hrůša has also been more intensive with Bruckner, since he found that it only works with an orchestra that "really loves enough". The phase in which we dipped into the fourth symphony in the 2018/1 19 season, he called an "delightful experience with Bruckner" - and it was still deepened: in the pandemic we took up the personal perspective of our chief conductor in 2020 to all three versions of the work for a legendary and award -winning recording. In this program, the "romantic" sounds in the version of 1878/80 - of course traditionally in Bamberg. After that we become "moving journeyman" ourselves and present the compositions in two of the best halls in Europe: in Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and (for the 10th time!) In the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie - where we also learned and appreciate the inspiring acoustics.
