About event
The first premiere of a new adaptation of the successful original ballet production by director and choreographer Ondrej Šoth from 2014.
The theater is a special organism. For the uninterested, it looks like an alchemist's workshop. In it, different people mix the most unlikely ingredients in order to produce a rare thing. A production that would allow the actors and the audience to experience the extraordinary feeling that they were witnesses (and co-creators) of a unique artistic experience right here and right now.
The creators of Night Rehearsal decided to take the audience behind the scenes. Of course, they are not the first. Perhaps the most famous literary insight into what precedes a theatrical premiere is Karel Čapek's novella Jak vniká theater hra ("The premiere is an expression of a desperate decision to finally let things run on their own, no matter what happens.").
Night rehearsal would also like to pay tribute to the professionalism of those on whom the theater stands - actors, singers and dancers. In the words of Rainer Lewandowski: "Actors are the foundation of the theater after all. Night after night they come out in front of you and take their skin to the market. Night after night a new challenge, a new test. And yet they are never certain. That is the cruelty of this profession. And the beauty at the same time."(In: Hamlet today will not be).
The professional life of a dancer is extremely demanding. Built on physical hard work and limited by age. And like any other performer, a dancer is dependent on "who invites him to dance" - whether he will be offered a job that will allow him to show what he's got. Will the peak of his dancing career come at a time when the given theater can use him. So the Night Exam probably pays tribute mainly to the dancers. With a smile, he points out the vicissitudes that they sometimes have to go through, but also lets them speak of art and beauty.
