ANNOTATION:
What better way to get to know local customs than to actually live with the people? Anička and Kuba packed their backpacks and set off to South America without much of a plan. Their journey began by chance as a volunteer at the very end of Chile's Tierra del Fuego far from civilization, where they met a sleeping toad on the beach, bathed in the sea under a glacier or climbed the hills around the windy Lago Fagnano. They then went through Patagonia to Araucania, a little-known region of the Mapuche people. Life, which revolves between volcanoes, is set by the rhythm mainly of araucaria, from whose fruits you can make surprisingly anything. Through northern Argentina, they reached Bolivia, full of colors and indigenous people, experienced altitude sickness for the first time in Peru, crossed the Ausangate trek and finally stayed in the Amazon forest, which got under their skin (and perhaps unintentionally, literally). They ended their wandering together at an Ecuadorian coffee farm, where they discovered for the first time what a daily cup of caffeine actually looks like. A trip that revolves around working with locals and a limited budget may sound too rushed, but the opposite is true - there's nothing better than staying in one place for at least a few weeks.
