About event
A documentary about memory, prejudice, resilience and why remembrance matters.
What happens when hatred becomes policy? What are the consequences when entire communities are denied their dignity, rights and humanity? And what can these stories teach us today?
Join us for the online premiere of Roma Holocaust and Beyond – Ways of Hate and Humanity, a documentary that explores one of the least known chapters of European history – the Roma Holocaust (Samudaripen).
Bringing together personal testimonies, family memories and expert perspectives, the film sheds light on the persecution and suffering experienced by Roma communities during the Second World War. At the same time, it examines the mechanisms that enable hatred, discrimination and exclusion to take root in society, while highlighting stories of courage, resilience, solidarity and humanity.
More than a historical documentary, Roma Holocaust and Beyond – Ways of Hate and Humanity invites viewers to reflect on the importance of remembrance and on the responsibility we all share in safeguarding human dignity, democratic values and fundamental rights.
The online premiere will bring together viewers from across Europe for a shared screening and reflection on one of the most overlooked chapters of European history.
