About event

We will warm you up to the opening of the exhibition Magdalena Šimurdová: ONLY THEN WILL the Stone Hum, which is stamped in Fri 10. Setkání! These meetings refer to organic ecosystems that have a natural ability to heal, resist sudden changes and find power in lack. Their poetics and fragility, but also insolence and courage, shape situations frozen in time - behind the glass showcase. The crack does not have to be a mistake, wound or destruction, but also space for the emergence of new life and changes, to become a safe haven of communities - a source of resistance. The roots of plants and bodies of microorganisms encounter rocks and breathe the air full of problematic present, in which it is increasingly difficult to stay in silence, listen, stop and feel. In his work, he focuses on spatial installations and objects in which it uses materials such as concrete, metal, wood or glass. Their combinations and mutual clashes create organic and inorganic layers and new meanings bearing memory and transformation over time. The resulting works often act as artifacts of the archeology of the future or as an transient entity that emerges in space for a moment. It is inspired by the newomaterialist and posthumanistic thinking, which allows it to disturb the binary division of living and inanimate and perceive the material as a sensitive and relationship substance. The work of Magdalena Šimurdová was presented at her independent exhibition Seed, Hide and Seek: Echoes of Presence (Zaazrak Dorny, 2025) or as part of group exhibitions in TIC - Gallery of Young (2023), V (A) VOID Gallery (2023) or in the former former sermons (2023) and More. 10. - 30. 11. 2025
