In the heart of Rotterdam, the Rotterdam riding school is located on the Kralingse Bos. An exceptional location and a unique complex designed by architect Willem van Tijen. In the main building from 1937 are the monumental inner lane and the atmospheric society. Het terras kijkt uit over het gehele terrein, met de indrukwekkende Rotterdampiste, de trainingsmolen, de paddocks en de grand stand.

Van TijenArchitect Willem van Tijen ontwierp behalve de manege in Rotterdam ook het gebouw van de Rotterdamse Zeilvereniging, de Kralingse Plaslaanflat, de Bergpolderflat, de Parkflat en een dubbel House at Essenlaan 77-79 in Kralingen. As an architect, he is known as an exponent of the New Building (functionalism). New materials were used in this building style from the 1930s, no ornaments were used, lots of light, lots of glass, lots of steel and little color. Hence the many white buildings. You can also see these principles at the riding school. In addition, there are of course many ponies, which also makes it a nice outing for children.

good to know • Rotterdamsche Manège can only be visited with a reservation. It is not possible to view the manège from the inside without a reservation.
• During the tours, the riding school activities will continue and horses in the stables, corridors and lanes are present. Caution is therefore offered when entering the stable complex.
• It is not permitted to enter the stable complex with open shoes or flip -flops.
