About event

I go to floodplain forests. Here old majestic trees are mixed with
young growths, they are surrounded by kilometers of ivy vines, young ones ambitiously climbing up the older trees and old lignified bodies of those worn out, which gravity pulls back to the ground. From time to time, a tree just falls on top of the others, like
a drunken father on the couch after returning home from the pub, and remains lying there. Large branches break under the pressure of the wind or simply do not work anymore, all the layers with which they were wrapped for years are revealed in the cracks, even with the rotten centers, through which life has not flowed for a long time. Trees succumb to their own death. She told us during one tour of the botanical garden.
I made a 40x50x60 cm box out of cardboard and covered it with brown bookstore flocking to blend in with the environment as much as possible. I drilled a 0.5 mm hole in the copper sheet and made a primitive lens out of it. I walk into floodplain forests with a big box on my back. I fasten her to the trees and leave her. I let it quietly blend in with the environment, become a part of the forest, so that it absorbs the reflected light layer by layer through the small opening.
I give her all the time she needs, I don't put pressure on her. I will let her reveal the environment in all its form, she will record every contact, every angle of light that falls on this Earth. A. Salminem: writes "In the era of fossil nihilism, photography acts as a reminder of the Sun, to which fossil man can turn and not simply wait until he becomes extinct." "Joanna Zylinsky in the book
Inhuman photography in thinking about photography goes even further and proposes to understand photography as a process of fossilization caused by light, which occurs across different media. She further argues that: the connection between fossilization and photography is not just a metaphor and that this concept can tell us something new both about the photographic medium and about the conditions it needs and which are also the conditions of our existence - they are light, energy and
the sun.” (p.123)
In winter, one day is enough for the box to make a recognizable image, but after spring, the time increases exponentially. Sometimes it hangs there for a week, soaking up the moisture of the rain along with the forest, the insects trying to slowly appropriate it, until I emerge from the forest again and take it to the city. The result is uncertain and its quality is determined by understanding and the ability to sensitively read the conditions around you.
