Opening Air in Zuidoost 2024

Exhibition with works by (inter)national artists who participated in our BijlmAir residency program last year.

The exhibitionAIR in Zuidoost # 2024< strong> shows works by (inter)national artists who participated in BijlmAIR, the artist-in-residence program of CBK Zuidoost, last year. >

Artists:Razia Barsatie, Esraa Elfeky, Halimatu Idrissu, Mirjam Linschooten, Stephen Tayo, Su Tomesen, Marieke Zwart.

The starting point of a BijlmAIR residency is to create new work that relates to or reflects on Amsterdam South East. The artists stayed in Heesterveld, where the BijlmAIR studio is located. The exhibition makes it clear that the society of South East always manages to inspire (inter)national artists in a special way.

Meanwhile in Ghana

While (inter)national artists came to Amsterdam South East to live and work here, Razia Barsatie left for Ghana as part of our exchange with the University of Kumasi (KNUST). Just like the artists here in the Bijlmer, she was there to conduct research and create new work that relates to or reflects on the environment.

*BijlmAIR is the Artist in Residency of CBK Zuidoost, in collaboration with The Department of Painting and Sculpture of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana and the Buro Stedelijk in Amsterdam.
