The In the Dust of this Planet project explores the transformation of the relationship to knowledge and intelligence in the context of contemporary computing systems, following on from historical practices of mediating knowledge through superhuman entities such as angels. The concept of the exhibition is based on the parallel between pre-modern ritual and mystical cosmologies with today's planetary computing infrastructure, which functions as an invisible mediator of reality controlled by algorithms.
The allegory of the angel here represents contemporary systems of artificial intelligence and data flows that organize and predict information on a global scale. Through a multi-sensory installation that connects sound, light, mirrors and architectural elements, an environment is created where different forms of perception and temporalities intertwine. During the exhibition, the presence of visitors becomes part of dynamic algorithmic processes, thereby intervening in the installation, which operates on the principles of synchronization. The author works with data sources in real time, which he transforms into audio and visual structures. The voice of the "angel" presents itself as an autonomous, self-communicating environment that simultaneously reflects and reconfigures the relationship between humans and planetary systems.
In the Dust of this Planet offers a speculative framework for thinking about intelligence, subjectivity, or planetary infrastructures, emphasizing the instability, multi-layeredness, and elusiveness of current forms of knowledge. The exhibition becomes a navigation tool in the space of uncertainty, where knowledge arises through fragmentary traces such as noise and echoes.
The exhibition includes two performative activations of the space.
