About event

The Beirut Urban Lab, an interdisciplinary research group, focuses on urban development and analyzing the impact of conflict on the urban environment. He brings to the exhibition a view of conflicts and urbanization in the Middle East region. They deal not only with the destruction of cities, but also with efforts to subvert their social and cultural structures. Their critical research pursues equitable and viable cities and contributes to broader academic debates on historical and contemporary urbanization in the Global South. The Tracking the Urbicide in Gaza and Monitoring Violence in the West Bank projects document and analyze violence in urban areas and make a major contribution to understanding the consequences of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. When examining areas affected by long-term conflicts, they use satellite images, field research and the testimony of local residents.

The lecture by members of the collective will take place within the framework of the exhibition project Evidence of Space, which is currently underway in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery.
