About event
Juraj Poliak / Desire for an Enemy
Curator: Adrián Kobetič
Koppel's Villa Extension
"We live in a society that constantly tells us what and how we could do better. That's not okay." Bernhard Studlar
The independent exhibition of intermedia artist and set designer Juraj Poliak represents an unconventional form of presentation, created by transferring a theater project into a gallery environment. The exhibited works were originally created as scenography for the performance of the same name, presented at the Slovak National Theater in 2017 based on the theme of the Austrian playwright Bernhard Studlar. However, it is not scenography in the traditional sense, but an integral part of the dramaturgical and meaningful concept of the performance.
Through works that create an immersive sound-visual environment, the visitor of the gallery becomes part of the process of forming the interactive installation. It opens as a space for searching for balance, tension and their temporary release, while thematizing the possibility of a symbolic "truce" in contemporary social relations.
