operUM: TOMÁŠ HANZLÍK & ENSEMBLE DAMIAN - ŘÍMSKÁ LUKRECIE (neobarokní moderní opera)

The third performance of the fifth edition of the OPERUM will be a gala evening under the baton of composer Tomáš Hanzlík, who based on the Baroque libretto from 1731 created a work that connects the past with the present. Music in the style of neo -baroque minimalism, counter -presensal replacing Baroque castrates, Ensemble chamber orchestra Damian and impressive performances create an exceptional theater experience. The Neo -Baroque opera of the Roman Lukrécie revives the old Roman myth of the virtuous Lukrécia, which after the disgrace of the tyrannical prince becomes a symbol of resistance. Her act will launch the fall of the monarchy and the emergence of the Republic of Roman - and at the same time resonates with today's themes such as abuse of power, morality and courage to change. It is a lively, visually and musical modern story that asks: How do we behave in the face of injustice? And who has the courage to say enough? Within the Operation Festival, we bring a production that connects the beauty of Baroque with the urgency of the present.

We are looking forward to seeing you
