💫 Chamber concert within the 25th edition of the ORFEUS Student Festival of Contemporary Music
The 25th anniversary of the ORFEUS Student Festival of Contemporary Music continues with the second concert of the ORFEUS CHAMBER series, which will take place on March 25 2026 at 19:00 in the Dvorana Concert Hall in Bratislava.
The event is organized by the Department of Composition and Conducting of the Faculty of Music and Dance of the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava, which for a quarter of a century has been systematically creating a space for young performers, composers and audiences interested in 20th and 21st century music to meet.
The evening will be opened by the electroacoustic composition Výčitky by Tána Hrdinka. This will be followed by piano works by students Samuel Végh, Ema Boleková and Matúš Babka interpreted by pianist Anhelina Kydora, a doctoral student at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
The piano program will be completed by pianist, teacher and laureate of several international piano competitions Jozef Kovalčík, who will perform the compositions Three Fragments for Piano, Op. 38 by Ľuboš Gabč and Five etudes for piano by the important Slovak composer and long-time teacher at VŠMU Vladimír Bokes. After twenty-five years, the Variations for Piano, Op. 27 by Anton Webern.
The evening will also include works for the guitar by Slovak composers performed by Adam Svitač, a prominent figure of the young generation of Slovak classical guitarists. The concert will feature the compositions Nuovamente solo, op. 72 by Jozef Podprocký, Miniatures for the guitar by Pavel Kršek and composition student Alexandra Griakalova's composition Hra s nevytnutú. The first part of the Sonata Lyrica for two guitars by Benjamin Maga will also be performed at the premiere, which the author will perform together with Adam Svitač.
Alexandra Griakalova's work will also be represented by the string quartet Nech sa Ti darí. The composition Suite de minutes for clarinet and cello by Matúš Babka, laureate of the Konvergencie Festival Composer Competition, will also be performed. Clarinetist Viktor Vojtas and cellist Ken-Wassim Ubukata will perform.
The end of the evening will be the composition Láskavá by Tána Hrdinka. The performers will be violinists Jana Macíková and Terézia Popaďáková, violist Roman Rusňák and cellist Ken-Wassim Ubukata.
The event is intended for all lovers of contemporary music and visitors who want to get to know today's music in a stimulating and artistically high-quality environment that the ORFEUS festival creates for the young generation of composers and performers.
