At the final concert of the 25th annual festival ORFEUS will be performed by the Slovak Brass Quintet and singers from the Technik STU and Vox Cantoris choirs under the direction of conductor Petra Torkošová.
The concert will pay tribute to the long-time professor of the Department of Composition and Conducting at the HTF VŠMU, prof. To Jevgenij Iršaj, who celebrated his life anniversary this year. On this occasion, the premiere of his composition Modlitba za slovo will be performed by the Slovak Brass Quintet, which was created for this occasion. A special place in the program belongs to the premieres of works by composition students. The Slovak Brass Quintet, a professional ensemble composed of instrumentalists of the Slovak Philharmonic and teachers of the HTF VŠMU, will perform new compositions by Matúš Babka (Triptych), Ľuboš Gabča (Fanfare and Fugue) and Jevgenij Pritužalov (Fuge), which expand the repertoire for brass instruments. Petra Torkošová. In their interpretation, the works of important Slovak composers Vladimír Godár and Vladimír Bokes will be heard. The choral part of the program will also offer the compositions Ad Te, Domine by Ervin Roman Fulmek and O magnum mysterium by Samuel Végh. The program will be complemented by Matúš Babka's Refuge.
The festival is organized by the Department of Composition and Conducting of the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, which has been systematically supporting the work of young composers for a quarter of a century and creating a space for the presentation of 20th and 21st century music.
