About event
The organ sprint will experience its first edition on Saturday 6 September. It is a new initiative to promote organ culture and to stimulate promising talent. Five young and prize-winning organ talents play a varied and challenging program on the Duyschot organ in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam from 13:00. In this first edition, Albèrt Driessen, David Strijbis, Jan Hogendoorn, Maarten Wilmink and Wibren Jonkers play. They all recently threw high eyes to competitions and/or the completion of their conservatory study.
De toegang is vrij, maar er is wel een collecte om de organisten een vergoeding te geven en voor de overige kosten.

Maarten heeft zowel zijn Master- als Bachelorstudie Orgel in Rotterdam afgerond met een 10. Hij won eerste prijzen tijdens het SGO Orgelconcours 2018 (Groningen), het Quintus OrgelConcours 2021 (Kampen) and the Rino Benedet Organ Competition 2023 (Bibione, Italy).

Jan rondde recent zijn Bachelor Orgel aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam af met een 8,5 en won de tweede prijs bij het Duyschot Orgelconcours. He continues his studies after the summer with a master organ. During the organ sprint, he carries out works from Bach, Sweelinck and Mendelssohn.

David studeert onder meer aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag en won vorig jaar het Duyschot Orgelconcours. He is an assistant organist in the Westerkerk. He plays Marcel Dupré's Symphonie Passion during the organ sprint.

Albèrt concludes the organ sprint with the entire fourth Symphony of Louis Vierne. He recently completed his bachelor's study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with a 10 and won both the Vox Humana Prize and the Organ Friend Price in May at the Duyschot Orgel competition.
