About event
The winter solstice is one of the most important events for ancient cultures. It is the shortest day of the year and also the longest night. A ceremonial fire is lit in honor of the Sun and his journey to the South, from where he annually returns to the North as a warrior who conquers the darkness and is victoriously reborn in turquoise blue...
In the human sphere, it means renewal, impulse, joy of life and harmonizing with oneself.
In the Mayan calendar, day 6 will be Akbal, which means Night, a new Dawn, renewal of the stages of life, introspection and reflection of our and planetary life. It is the house of the sun, the heart of the mountains and the awakening of a new perception and understanding of life.
The number 6 means to re-emerge, to seek the spirituality of life, to gain new powers that give us an organic balance in our lives. It means feeling united with the primordial energy and wisdom of the universe and within ourselves.
We will gather around a ritual fire to celebrate together, share dances, songs, winter stories and lots of joy. The solstice enters at exactly 10:20 a.m. We will join other bonfires in Mexico, Peru and other places around the world to join in thoughts and prayers for happiness, peace and harmony for our people and all nations.
You may bring musical instruments, crystals and ceremonial objects.
Children are welcome.
The meeting will be led by XOLOTL MARTINEZ, Aztec guardian of wisdom and chief of sacred ceremonies. He is a teacher of sacred dances, a guide to the purifying sweat rituals of Temazcalli, and an expert in Aztec cosmology as well as shamanic healing techniques. Due to his ancestors' devotion to their culture and tradition, he was tapped into secret teachings and a rich cosmology that dates back to the beginnings of the Age of the Fifth Sun and connects his ancestors to the lineage of the ancient Teochichimec nation. He studied various types of natural healing, crystal therapy, yoga, tai chi and worked with wilderness survival techniques. Since the 1980s, he has been intensively teaching youth and children, organizing courses and seminars devoted to the ancient culture of Mexico, as well as being initiated into other indigenous traditions of the American continent.
