About event
The lecture is an accompanying program for the exhibition Barbora Zentková and Julie Gryboś Lethargy Blanket (curator Lýdia Pribišová) in the Ján Koniar Gallery in Trnava, in Koppel Villa. The lectures contains a link to one of the key slogans of the second wave of feminism "personal is political" that referred to the need to break the barrier among the instrumentally separated spheres of private and public and show that the policy sphere is far from limiting the public sphere. In the coming decades, new and new requirements were reflected in this slogan, most recently those related to the onset of the so -called. Identity policy, which eventually became one of the fighting grounds of cultural wars. However, the lecture does not want to go in this direction. On the examples of the work of Barbora Zentková and Julie Gryboś, they will focus on how their work has long been and at the same time "shows" a significant political dimension. The political level in their work can be found in their interest in the issue of work, more precisely in their interest in the relationship between wage work, artistic creation, freedom and value systems in which they are anchored. and Gryboś contained in an easy -to -read password and images. It is associated with the material of the work, it is often literally wrapped into it. Used yarn, fabrics and other materials often enter the creation of Gryboś and Zentka already marked by the story. It is not only important what they look like, but also how they got here. In this lecture, we will focus on the stories that the works of this pair speak through the view of the partial history and trajectories of the materials from which they are made.
