About event

The August meeting of our reading club is dedicated to the novel Cat's Eye by the Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, translated by Kateřina Klabanová.

We will talk about friendship, cruelty, memory, growing up and how childhood relationships shape us. In her novel, Atwood sensitively and uncompromisingly captures the world of girl collectives and the power games that arise in them.

Margaret Atwood is one of the most important contemporary writers in the world. She is best known to the Czech readership thanks to the novel The Handmaid's Tale. In her work, she has long been devoted to issues of identity, the status of women, power and memory.

📚 About the club 📚
Let's meet once every two months. At each meeting, we discuss one pre-selected book together – we share our impressions, look for connections and discover different layers of the story. The club is open to everyone who wants to discover the depth of literature, think about what books awaken in us, and meet people from the neighborhood in a stimulating and friendly atmosphere. The meeting of the reading club is accompanied by Olga Słowik. 💜
