About event
Author reading month returns to Bratislava this year! 🤩
In 2026, the largest Central European literary festival MAČ will bring the works of authors from Greenland to Rómer House in 2026 - a land of distinctive voices, strong stories, arctic lands, Inuit traditions and contemporary issues of identity, colonialism, language and the relationship of man to nature. 19.00 and then we will meet daily from July 18 to August 3, always at 19.00 in Rómer's house. This year will be dedicated exclusively to Greenlandic guests and guests - without a home author's line.
The opening evening will belong to one of the most prominent personalities of the current Arctic cultural scene: Greenlandic poet, performer and visual artist Jessie Kleemann.
Jessie Kleemann (* 1959, Upernavik) combines poetry, performance, video and visual art in her work. It is based on Inuit tradition, myths and rituals, which it transforms into experimental forms. Her work is characterized by strong imagery, physical expressiveness and an emphasis on the themes of identity, corporeality, colonialism and man's relationship with nature.
At Rómerov dom together with the Danish musician Søren Gemmer, she will perform her set of poems from the album Lone Wolf Runner.
