The "Trigger" exhibition presents the latest paintings by Alexandra Hrehová and Gabriela Halás. Their works are characterized by a distinctive and recognizable painterly handwriting on the opposite sides of the spectrum of descriptiveness, expressiveness and color expression. At the same time, both deal with the figure of a woman from a perspective that reflects on past and existing patriarchal structures.
How much can a female figure take? Diets, anti-aging procedures, slaps from the system, from a partner, menstrual cycles, washing cycles, series of sit-ups, parched, rehydrated, dehydrated, thirsty for anything other than the here and now, costumed, naked, alive-dead...
How much can a woman's figure endure before she rebels? Will a bad word, strong distrust, strong words, physical violence or "ordinary" infidelity trigger an internal revolution? Or will it boil over and explode when someone else wants to make decisions about her body, her life, who, what, when and how he touches her? (Miroslava Urbanová, curator)
