We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Ľubomír Slovinský: A repository of sonic raw materials, which will take place on 6/16 (Tuesday) at 5:00 p.m. in the Bethlen house (basement) at Dolna 141/8 in Banská Bystrica.
The landscape around Banská Bystrica is shaped by centuries of mining activity, which has been inscribed in its memory, the colorful composition, topography or landscape character. The relief, color structure, cross-sections of ore deposits or the system of mine works create a set of patterns specific to the selected location. The multi-channel audiovisual installation Ložisko sonic raw materials transforms these patterns into sound structures and compositions. The starting point is field recordings and sonifications of visual and geological resources. At the same time, the piece works with the idea of a lost soundscape. Localities that today seem quiet or abandoned were in the past areas of intense activity accompanied by the sounds of blows, splashing, commotion or other noises. The former soundscape was not preserved as a direct recording, but the work reconstructs and reinterprets this vanished sound horizon through contemporary audiovisual procedures.
