About event
The Elderly Song Contest is a national festival, with ten preliminary rounds and three pre-finals spread throughout the country and the festive Grande Finale in Amsterdam.
Anyone over the age of 55 can participate. The choice of repertoire is free, the participant decides. Musical director Kees van Zantwijk accompanies all candidates in the preliminary round on piano. In the pre-final, all pre-finalists will be accompanied by his Elderly Song Contest Combo, and in the Grande Finale by his eight-piece Elderly Song Contest Orchestra.
A professional jury chaired by Ben Lansink determines who will move on to the next round. During the Grande Finale on December 15 in the Capital Theater Amsterdam, in addition to three professional jury prizes, the audience prize and the internet prize will also be awarded.
