About event
We invite you to a concert of two bands that competed at this year's Porta.
NOISES FROM THE SWAMP - outlaw country/southern gothic/blues band from Prague inspired by the current American and Canadian country scene and people like Colter Wall, The Dead South or Nick Shoulders, but also veterans such as Nick Cave or Tom Waits and Johnny Cash. Podia is in its third year, except for one or two traditionals, their repertoire consists of the creations of their sometimes disturbing minds, and whoever listens to this ensemble will leave richer by a few more or less believable and gloomy stories.
VER TERRAE was formed at the beginning of 2023, as a continuation of the band Ponorka, focused on Balkan and gypsy songs, which won, for example, the East Bohemian Port and the Amplion argentum award during its short existence. However, its members have been playing together for many years in various projects from the Balkans and Czech folklore to playing covers on the streets of European cities. Now the band has songs from different corners of the world in its constantly expanding repertoire; Macedonian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Serbian, Catalan, Sephardic, Tatar, Ukrainian and more. The eternal themes of love and sorrow, wildness and joy and fear pulsate in folk songs, so they are understandable despite more or less familiar languages. Most often you will hear a combination of vocals, violin, viola, guitar and double bass, but some songs feature trombone, Greek bouzouki or Pontic lyre.
