About event
We cordially invite you to the lecture by Pavel Drábek, which will start the spring cycle of horizons of theatrology at the Department of Theater Studies! The lecture can be followed online> https://cesnet.zoom.us/j/96140606838
The History of theater and Performance
The first issue of theater revue 2026 will be devoted to theater and performances historiography (ed. Pavel Drábek). The lecture will present the starting thesis for the meaning of this topic. The main thesis is the design of the relational history of theater and performance. These historys make it possible to establish established historiographic categories and try to solve the basic ontological problem of theatrology: the intangibility and time of theater and performances artifact (or arteact, as Jan Roubal called it). ideas. Karl Popper described this epistemological approach as Plato's curse and saw the foundation stone of a closed society. Over the past few years, there has been a discussion on how to write a more open and inclusive history of theater - those that will not only record the cultural metropolises in the so -called developed world, or the cultural metropolis that Western historiography has taken into their circle of interest. We know from the audience experience that theatrical and performance activities are not only focused on cultural centers, but to all the places where the performance takes place.
The lecture will think about several cases from different theater and performances sectors and designs possible methodological alternatives.
