Pablo Murgier + Yonathan Avishai

On the third evening, December 2, the festival events will return to the hall of the Nusel Town Hall with the Argentinian musician Pablo Murgier and the Israeli or rather cosmopolitan personality Yonathan Avishai.

Pablo Murgier was born in Argentina, however, since 2017 he lives in Paris. However, he did not deny the music of his native country. Tango enriches the elements of his jazz improvisation. He won the 2017 World Tango Orchestra Award with the Pablo Murgier Ensemble. You can convince yourself of this on the solo piano album Los Espejos (2019).

Yonathan Avishai grew up not only in Israel, but also in Japan. And later he settled, like his younger instrument colleague Pablo, in France. In this, too, the roots of his originality and innovative musical methods, freely drawing from various cultures, can be found. “His sound and style are radical. He takes breaks where you wouldn't expect them," they wrote about him with exaggeration. Yonathan established himself as a regular member of trumpeter Avishai Cohen's band, with whom he released five albums on the style-making ECM label. He also played with Omer Avital. At the same time, however, he is an experienced soloist and also a leader.
