ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
⏱️Length: 50 minutes
🗣️Language: English, Arabic
🎟️Ticket price: minimum 10 euros (on site only)
"If only I could forget you after the last dance" is an attempt to portray a cluster of pain, sadness, anger and love. The path follows the trail of loss and reveals the wreckage left in its wake. It is an invitation to a collective experience of overcoming and forgiveness.
Through movement, video and exploration of specific objects, the event locates the friction between political pain and personal loss. Returning to the memories of her life in Palestine, Jeries searches for a way to share the unspeakable and dives into her body, the epicenter of all the overlapping narratives. He offers himself as the center of gravity of our temporary constellation and drives us to the rhythm of his heart.
JERIES ABUJABER
Jeries AbuJaber is a scenographer, performer and experienced medical clown. He designs masks and puppets that he breathes life into as a puppeteer and collaborates on international projects. As an actor and performer, he works in various theater groups. He currently lives in Prague, where he is an active member of the Dafa Theater and works as a freelancer. He received a master's degree in Directing of Devised and Object Theater at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU).
DAFA THEATER
Dafa Theater is an internationally acclaimed puppet and object theater based in Prague, which was founded in 2015 on the initiative of two graduates of the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU). The name "Dafa" comes from the Arabic word for warmth and describes the group's philosophy based on inclusiveness, hospitality and the power of human connection. Dafa acts as a creative laboratory of physical and object theater that combines puppetry, author's and movement theater, music and multimedia. He creates productions for both children and adults, which he regularly presents at international festivals and receives awards all over the world - for example, the performances Smooth Life and War Maker. The theater also organizes multi-genre festivals (e.g. LIV'in in Prague), leads educational initiatives for young people (Ya Khayal Theater Lab in Amman) and collaborates on European projects such as In Memoriam, V4–SAP or Objects Without Borders, which connect art, social issues and intercultural dialogue.
