About event
🎬 The Oscar-winning Summer Cinema at the Red Crab continues. 🦞
On Thursday, June 18 at 9:00 p.m., we will screen the award-winning documentary Mr. Nobody against Putin, which won the Oscar for best feature-length documentary film and the BAFTA award at the same time.
One brave teacher, confronted with the moral dilemma of working in a system built on lies and violence, decides to film what is really happening in his school. Pasha lives in a small Russian town and is a popular teacher at the local school. With the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, his job will completely change. He is forced to organize activities in accordance with the new war curriculum and document them on camera. The demands on teachers are increasing, Pasha's former students are leaving for the front, and the atmosphere in the city is getting dense. Frustrated, Pasha decides to fight as best he can. He begins to film not only state-mandated activities, but also everyday life in and out of school, with the aim of showing the world the impact of war and an authoritarian regime on the local community. The film Mr. Nobody against Putin provides a unique insight into the functioning of Russian propaganda and tells an exciting story about a man who decides to risk everything in order not to betray his values.
Director: David Borenstein, Pavel Talankin.
The screening is realized in cooperation with the Kinedok.sk platform.
⚠️In case of bad weather, the event is cancelled.
