About event
The Slovak folk art collective will present a Christmas concert of folk music and theater Pastorále on December 15 and 22, 2024 in the Klariska concert hall.
In addition to the folk carols, spiritual and pastoral songs, the concert is complemented by two folk theater plays. The Christmas play about the biblical King Herod is a reference to the folk adaptation of the biblical theme, according to which King Herod gave the order to kill all Bethlehem children under the age of two (Gospel according to Matthew, 2, 1-16). This folk game is followed by the puppet Nativity play Šopka from the village of Topoľovka. The tradition of puppet Nativity plays was brought to Topoľovka at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by immigrants from Poland and Ukraine.
