About event
'You're exaggerating!'
For some time now we have heard very good things about Paul Cornish, a pianist from Houston living in Los Angeles who we saw at the festival as a member of the Joshua Redman Group in 2023, just the same year in which Cornish had been a finalist in two of the most important competitions in the jazz universe: the Herbie Hancock International Jazz Piano Competition 2023 and the American Pianists Association's Jazz Competition. Now, thanks to our collaboration with the Jamboree, we will see him leading his trio in the presentation of his first album for Blue Note, You're exaggerating!, with Jermaine Paul on double bass and Jonathan Pinson on drums. Let Don Was, president of Blue Note, speak to you: «When you listen to Paul Cornish’s new album and examine the nuances of his playing, you will find that he is one of the most innovative pianists to come along in quite a while –with a musical signature that is taller than the JPMorgan Tower in Houston.»
We cannot add more. Or yes: You're exaggerating is one of those truly unforgettable albums that announces a career that we foresee as full. And even more, to put Don Was's passionate hyperbole in context: the JPMorgan Chase Tower in Houston is almost twice the size of the tallest building in Barcelona...
